Tips for repairing or reinforcing timber frames: Position a metal mending plate against the damaged timber frame. Centre the plate over the target section and hold the plate in place.

Make a pencil mark on each mounting holes to locate the drilling holes. Drill pilot holes at each mark. Place the plate over the marked area and insert screws.
